It’s so easy to get busy in our furrows. Trudging along, head down, minding the tasks before us. The child in us dies, or is suppressed. We forget that the meaning of life is to live. But we can regain our childlike innocence, and enjoy each moment. If we simply look up, breathe, and see the awesome beauty in The Sky.

There was a time back when I was a little boy.
We had a simple life, no need for lots of fancy
toys. Lived a good life, simple farm life;
Cows and cats and barns and dogs and ponds
and fields and frogs and Oh that Missouri Sky!

But I grew up, went off to school
Worked hard in life. Lived like a fool.
I roamed the world for knowledge and fame.
Met lots of people doing the same.
Plowing the soil of my career.
To harvest much, yet still these fears.
Is this all? Life rolling by. The years they fly...

While we forget to just step back, and pause and breathe
and just look up and take it in. And see that wondrous awesome sky!

I found much peace there in the faces of my family. The love and calm I felt it let me glimpse the sanity
of a right life. Simple good life.

I worked so hard to reach, fulfill
The goals out there were somewhere still
The voices there inside my head
Please Silence Them! Oh Please I Said!
Is this all? Life rolling by.
The years they fly… while we forget.

Now I recall back when I was just a little boy.

When I look up into the sky... Every kind of cloud formation,
The clouds with the mountains giving punctuation.
And the snow The cirrus, altos, stratus, and lenticular.
All the weather Notus, Evrus, Zephyrus, Boreus, all in Aelous.

What’s it all for?

If we never take the time to see what’s been there all the while,
we may lose the chance to dance, and sing, and smile.
Grace and gifts of gratitude are there to just accept.
The meaning of life, is just to be lived,
and all of us should take this simple gift,
and just look up, and take it in, and see that awesome sky!

And now a child again, I’ve found a friend in the sky.
The love and calm I felt, it let me glimpse the sanity. The Sky!
That being loving, caring, is itself a lofty goal. The Sky!

That faith in life & love would keep me safe & warm & whole.
